Here, turn right and head out of the city centre and travel towards Costa de Estoril. You will stay on this road until you hit a roundabout with a monument in the middle.
Turn right on the A5 main route towards Loures and the SP-10 route. Keep on this road until you reach a roundabout. Take the second exit onto the A9 motorway (towards Cascais). Take the first exit at the next roundabout and you will find yourself in Estoril. The trip should take around half an hour depending on traffic flow.

Sintra is a mountain town that was once part of the Portuguese ruling monarchy. It has many beautiful palaces, castles and forts that were built during that time period. There are also close to 20 wine estates in Sintra where you can sample some of Portugal’s finest wines. The best way to get to know Sintra is by renting a bike and going on an adventure!
Cascais: This coastal town is a popular day-trip destination for Lisbon residents. It's just a short train ride away and has a lot to offer in terms of cool cafes, restaurants, shops and bars. They also have a really nice big beach with all the amenities (restaurants, bars, etc.).
Estoril is also a very nice town with a beautiful long boardwalk overlooking the ocean. You won’t find many people in Cascais or Estoril who speak English so that should be something to consider if you don’t speak Portuguese. The best thing to do if you visit Cascais/Estoril is to rent a car and explore the beautiful surrounding countryside
Obidos: This medieval town is located an hour north of Lisbon and is well worth the drive. The town is surrounded by walls and has a number of interesting museums and churches to explore.
I also recommend looking up all of the different beaches that are located in and around Lisbon. Many of them have great sand and surf for hitting the waves, but one of my personal favourites is Cova do Vapor Beach.
This beach has a beautiful setting under some amazing cliffs, and there are plenty of restaurants nearby for having lunch or grabbing drinks after taking a dip.
Berlengas Islands. Another great day trip from Lisbon, I highly recommend visiting the Berlengas Islands. These islands are an hour outside of the city, but they offer some of the best scenery in the country.
There are tons of hiking trails around the island that will lead you through huge sand dunes, caves, rare wildlife, waterfalls, ruins (including one that once belonged to the Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama), and even a lighthouse.
